Camp Fire Green Country celebrates
Valentines for Veterans
Camp Fire Green Country youth honor our nation’s veterans with Valentines for Veterans each February 14th as part of Salute to Veterans, a National Camp Fire Program. This program parallels National Salute to Veteran Patients Week, celebrated annually the week of Valentine’s Day.
As Camp Fire youth take steps to earn their Salute to Veterans emblem they learn about citizenship, patriotism, and the importance of giving service to others. Valentines for Veterans is one way Camp Fire youth to express their appreciation for our Service Members.
Leading up to Valentine’s Day, Camp Fire youth create cards and small gifts to deliver to area veterans. On February 14, 2015, youth representing a variety of Afterschool and Traditional clubs will hand deliver their Valentine’s cards and tokens of appreciation to patients of the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center, Muskogee, OK. This opportunity allows each youth to meet a Veteran and pay tribute to those who have sacrificed so much in service to our country.
