2008 Camp Staff Jobs

Camp Fire USA has openings for both day and resident camp staff in June and July. 

Resident Camp Staff
Camp Waluhili, a summer resident camp that began in 1949 rests on 219 acres, located on the shores of Lake Fort Gibson. Waluhili accommodates over 100 girls and boys who are going into the third grade and up, offering opportunities to pick and choose fun activities that help build individual skills.  Staff will be trained at Camp Waluhili and will have the opportunity to work resident camp and/or day camp or a combination of both.

2008 Camp Dates: 

Pre-Camp Training:  May 29 - June 6  

Camp Sessions: June 8 - July 12                                                      

Lodging and Facilities
Campers and staff are housed in rustic cabins that include bunk beds, restrooms and meeting areas, with shower facilities close by. Meals are served in a spacious lodge. Waluhili has approximately 3 miles of shoreline. While the camp is mostly forested, a few meadows are open for activities, and there is plenty of hiking, horseback riding and biking trails.

Staff teach and coordinate the following camp activities:

Singing Cookouts Skits
Caving Arts and Crafts Campfires
Hiking Outdoor Skills Fishing
Sailing Archery Ceremonies
Nature Lacrosse Backpacking
Overnights Challenge Course

Staff Positions Available at Camp Waluhili

WATERFRONT STAFF
Minimum age: 18
Salary Range: $200 and up per week 
Current lifeguarding certification is required. Assist in all waterfront activities at the pool and lake.

KITCHEN STAFF
Minimum age: 25 and 18 depending on position 
Salary Range: $180-$275 per week
Cooks and Kitchen Assistant openings. Plan and prepare meals for 50-125 people. Experience in quantity cooking. Food handlers permit required.

CABIN STAFF
Minimum age: 18
Salary Range: $180 and up per week
Guide and supervise a group of 6-12 campers. Help plan and carry out programs, enforce camp rules.

PROGRAM SPECIALISTS
Minimum age: 21
Salary Range: $180 and up per week
Conducts programs for all ages of campers including traditional and adventure related activities.

Day Camp Staff
Camp Fire USA runs three different day camps in the Tulsa area during June and July. Staff is needed on a daily basis from Monday to Friday to lead activities for coed youth ages K to 7th grade.  Staff will be trained at Camp Waluhili and will have the opportunity to work day camps and/or resident camp or a combination of both.

Pre-Camp Training:  May 29 - June 6  

Camp Sessions: June 9 - July 18       

Day Camp Staff Positions Available

DAY CAMP DIRECTOR
Minimum age: 25
Salary Range: $250 weekly.   Responsibilities:  Plan, direct and supervise all aspects of the day camp program.

COUNSELORS
Minimum age: 18
Salary Range: $180 weekly (full time)  $75-100 weekly (part time).   Responsibilities:  Work daily with a group of children to provide quality outdoor related activities.
